Renew Your Mind

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.
— ROMANS 12:2 (NIV)

With so much trouble in the world, it seems to be getting more difficult to find peace of mind. Even if things aren’t directly happening to you or your family at the present time, it’s likely there’s still a dark cloud hovering nearby as you witness misfortune in the lives of others. Maybe the struggle is in finding reason to be happy? You know you should be enjoying life, but it’s just one thing after another that seemingly proves otherwise. It’s almost as if you’ve trained your mind to worry, complain, or see the negative in everything. But I have great news for you my friend! Just as you’ve programmed your mind to focus on the bad, you can also reprogram yourself to focus on the positive!

Allow God to enter your heart and mind daily by reading a daily devotional, studying His word, and praying. When you meditate on the goodness of God, you will develop a better mindset than your present. When you start to praise God from where you are in life, He will take you to the next level. Be patient with yourself. This process of renewing your mind doesn’t happen overnight, but you will be glad you did!

Heavenly Father, I will not continue to allow my mind to follow the pattern of this world, but be transformed by renewing it through abiding in You. I can do all things, including changing the way I think, because You give me strength! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
