The world has lost another iconic figure in the recent passing of Muhammad Ali. You may not believe he was the world’s greatest boxer or athlete. You may not agree with his religious or political views, but you cannot deny that he knew who he was and wasn’t afraid to tell you. He often called himself “pretty” or “the world’s greatest heavy weight champ”, along with other boastful, self-titles some people would perceive as arrogant. One of his many quotes is, “To be a great champion, you must believe you are the best. If you’re not, pretend you are.”
As a Christian, you don’t have to pretend. You are the world’s greatest because you are of God. Scripture says that you have overcome because the greatness of Jesus Christ is in you. Like Ali, you have to show and be confident in who you are. Jesus says you are a royal priesthood and a holy nation. You are joint heirs with Him. You are above only and never beneath! Speak to your situations and obstacles today and tell your mountains to move! You don’t have to pretend to be what you already are. You just have to believe it.
“I’m not the greatest. I’m the double greatest.”
