One Ruler

‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’
— Romans 14:11 (NIV)

In Michigan, we just cast our vote in selecting who should represent our government’s two political parties. After the results were in, I listened to the reaction of those whose candidate prevailed and those whose did not. I witnessed both cheers and disappointment. I even heard people declare they’d uproot their families and move to Canada if a certain candidate was elected our next president!

As believers, we can’t afford to get caught up in what Fox News or CNN decides to feed us. This is a time to recognize and remember the power of prayer. No matter what form of earthly power someone is given or represents, we know there is only one ruler that every knee will bow to and every tongue will confess. We know no one has power or authority unless God gives it. While it would be ideal to have someone in the White House who shares your values, remember, Jesus is able to soften the most hardened heart. As believers we must rely on the power of God and pray for our leaders.

He’s still in control

Heavenly Father, I know no one has power unless You give it and that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Your name. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
