During the time Jesus fulfilled His ministry on earth, He treated everyone in the same manner. He loved the poor, He remained faithful to those who led sinful lives, He never shunned those with diseases, nor did He show any prejudice toward the disabled. One could say Jesus actually sought out people others felt had no worth or would rather live without befriending. Through His example, Jesus shows us as believers we cannot play favorites. He not only instructed us to love one another as we love ourselves, but tells us God is love. This type of love is unconditional. It matters not what’s in someone’s pocket, where they live, or if they can return a favor. God wants us to present one love towards all mankind. And in doing so, calling one another “brother” or “sister” in our churches becomes more than just a title, but a reality of belonging to the body of Christ.
