Time of Trouble

The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away…
— John 10:12 (NIV)

We’ve all experienced some form of trouble and needed family to lean on or a friend’s shoulder to cry on, but what do you do when you feel deserted and abandoned? What do you say when your friends turn away and you’re all alone. When things are going great for you, you’re a magnet and everyone knows your name. In the time of trouble, you feel lost and forgotten.

I want to encourage you today that you are not alone, nor are you forgotten. You were just looking in the wrong place at the wrong time for your help. Your help comes from the LORD! In the time of trouble, it’s nice to have people near that genuinely care for you, but don’t forget they are only there to help get God’s love to you, not replace it. When the wolf comes, the hired hand will abandon the sheep, but the shepherd owns the sheep and will not. When the wolf appears in your life, remember, Jesus is the good shepherd who will never leave you nor forsake you.
