The God In You

Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
— LUKE 6:28 (NIV)

How can you be kind to people that have mistreated you? How can you pray for those that prey on you?  How can you support people who didn’t support you? Well my friend, you alone may not be able to do any of those things, but the God in you can.

When you have the chance to perform a kind act to a friend or enemy, seize the opportunity! God wants to do something through you. Yes, you may feel used initially, but remember you’re not being used by people, but by God. Joseph’s family sold him into slavery, but the God in him helped the very people who left him for dead. Christ was lied on, judged, condemned, and crucified by the people He loved; yet He still obeyed God’s plan to sacrifice His life so we’d have life. When you know what you are doing is to please God, it becomes easier to bless those who curse you and pray for those who mistreat you. You don’t have to worry about being taken advantage of because God will protect you. Don’t stop being kind or doing the right thing because of a few people who don’t know how to act. God will take care of them, just like He’ll take care of you.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the courage to do right in spite of what others do. I will bless those who curse me and pray for those who mistreat me. As I do Your work, I know You will protect me from evil. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
