The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;
— PSALM 118:22 (NIV)

The cornerstone is vital to the construction and foundation of a building. It’s the stone that forms the base of a corner that joins two walls together. Metaphorically, the cornerstone is an important quality or feature on which a particular thing depends or is based. Jesus is often referred to as the Chief Cornerstone. Although He was rejected, Jesus was sent to join God with His people, and now He is seated at the right hand of God with all power.

You may have been rejected by the very people God sent you to help, work with, and love, but that’s not the end of your story. Whatever God has called you to do has not changed, but maybe the audience has. Return to Christ in prayer and ask Him to direct your path. The rejection and isolation you are experiencing at the hand of man is not to punish you, but God’s protection from the evil you potentially may encounter. It’s God’s way of moving you out of a situation so that all your attention, questions, and energy will be more directed to Him. Through this process, God will promote you from a stone in the wall, to being a foundational cornerstone. Your territory will be enlarged. Your spirit will be filled. Your gift will be used to its fullest potential. Just allow God to do it.

Heavenly Father, thank You for isolating me in Your protection when others reject me. Just as Your Son, Jesus, is the Chief Cornerstone, You have made me instrumental in the building of Your Kingdom. Thank You for accepting me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
