A Righteous Allowance

But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.
— Matthew 6:33 (AMP)

My kids recently asked for a weekly allowance to buy things on their wish list. Their wish list wasn’t outrageous, but I assured them that if I paid them an allowance, it would not cover everything they wanted. In response, they asked if they could do odd jobs for neighbors to earn enough money to buy the rest of the things on their list. I reminded them that their time is already prioritized with schoolwork, sports, and other activities, and that the quality of their efforts may suffer. I also told them that if they continue to do well in school and commit to doing their chores at home – without me reminding them – I’d give them all the things on their wish list over time.

When you follow Christ’s agenda and His way of doing things, He will give you the desires of your heart. God doesn’t want you to focus on your wish list. He wants you to focus on His wish list. Everything you need in life will be found when you aim to please Him. Commit today to go out of your way to do His work and watch God bless you with everything you need.

More than you can ask for

Heavenly Father, I will seek You and Your righteousness. I know all my needs and desires are freely given when I follow Your will and Your way. Today I throw away my wish list and adopt Yours as mine. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
— This is my prayer
