I Ain't Perfect

I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.
— Philippians 3:12-14 (MSG)

It’s been one month since I launched my website and daily devotions. Let me tell you—it hasn’t been easy!

The problems that I’ve had so far on this "Live Life with Van Burch" adventure haven’t been major, but I want things to be perfect. Unfortunately, I’m finding out that nothing is perfect. No matter how many times I proofread my devotions before posting them, I seem to catch typos after they hit your inbox. And no matter how much I try to make what I’ve written relevant and engaging, I still find that some of the people I consider family and have worked with in ministry unsubscribe from my daily emails or do not support my efforts.

Nevertheless, as I continue to press toward the mark and keep my eye on the goal, I want to thank all of you who have shared encouraging words with me, in-boxed personal comments, or liked or shared my posts on Facebook. I’m running for Jesus, but your words help me not to turn back. God wants you to do the same in your life. He has surrounded you with more people that do support you, than those that don’t. But even if that doesn’t seem like the case, just make sure what you are doing is for Him. If we can make a difference in one person’s life, a goal has been accomplished and God gets the glory!

I’m not going back! I’m moving ahead…

Heavenly Father, thank You for not giving up on me when I make mistakes. I do not have it altogether in life, nor am I an expert, but I commit to continuing to grow in You. I will run onward and upward toward You and not look back. In everything I do, I will give You all the glory. Thank You Lord for those You’ve placed in my life to support me and encourage me. I pray You bless them Father. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
