The Choice is Yours

This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
— Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV)

Wouldn’t it be great if we were given the answers to all the tests in life? God set before us both life and death, blessings and curses. And just in case we weren’t exactly sure which to choose, He gave us the answer and advised us to choose life.

A lot of times we think the choices we make in life only have an effect on us. God reminds us in this scripture that our choices not only affect us but our children as well. You may not have biological children, but as Christians, we are all part of Christ’s body. When you choose life, God blesses you and the body of Christ as well.

So as I think about my twins celebrating their 13th birthday today, I think about making right choices in life so that they too may experience the blessings of God. You may have a checkered past or made some questionable decisions before, but it’s never too late for you to make the decision to change not only your life for the better, but those in it as well.

 Choose right

Lord, I thank You for guiding me to choose life. You have defeated death, and I bind any curses spoken against my life. Today I choose blessings and not curses in my life and in the life of others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
