Imagine Me

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
— 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

Who did you remember to tell, “I love you” today? Was it your kids on their way to school? Was it your spouse before you left for work? Or maybe it was your mom at the end of your conversation last night? Saying, “I love you” to all of these people is good, but you may have forgotten to say it to one important person...yourself.

When was the last time you said, “I love you” to yourself? Yes, we show outward expressions that we love ourselves by working out, feeding ourselves, and maybe even dressing well, but what about your spirit? Are you having trouble forgiving yourself for your past? Are you holding yourself captive from obtaining a goal in life? Have you freed yourself enough to hear the voice of God?

I’m reminded of a Kirk Franklin song titled, “Imagine Me.” The entire song is powerful. In the song, Franklin tells God, “Thank you for reminding me to see myself the way You see me.” That’s a personal thought achieved by loving yourself and having faith in God’s plan for your life. When God said Job was perfect and upright, He was referring to what He created Job to be and not his current status. At times we forget what God called us to be due to our current situation. That’s when you have to love yourself even more and imagine yourself free from the adversities and obstacles around you.

God placed you above and never beneath. He called you His child—chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His special possession. When you imagine yourself through the eyes of how God sees you, you can’t help but to love yourself. Imagine that!

Be free

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me through Your Word who I am and what You created me to be. Give me the strength and power to walk in it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
