27th Psalm Series - Day 2
I used to feel like I had to get back at anyone who said anything bad against me—truth or lie. I felt I had to confront them or else they’d be getting away with it or have the idea they could talk about me whenever they felt. In my tireless effort to “check” people (i.e., put them in their place), I realized I became more like the people I was checking and less like Christ. I wasted too much energy running around listening to what people were saying about me, instead of giving them less to talk about.
Know that God will handle your enemies for you. He said that no weapon formed against you will prosper. God didn’t promise weapons would not be formed against you. He promised they would not prosper. Understand that haters are going to hate you no matter what you do. It’s their job! So no amount of checking or protecting will prevent it. Just trust and rely that their plan against you will fail as they stumble and fall.
