What's My Motivation?

Don’t call attention to yourself; let others do that for you.
— Proverbs 27:2 (MSG)

It’s a great feeling when you’re recognized for the good you’ve done. A proverbial pat on the back or a simple “Thank you” goes a long way. But what do you do when you feel you’ve been overlooked? What about when a longtime friend doesn’t show their appreciation toward you while acknowledging someone else? Find peace in knowing your acts of kindness aren’t to please people, but to glorify God.

God wants you to be kind to others and to display the gifts He’s given you to the world for Him to get all the praise. Calling attention to yourself because of a good deed you’ve done takes eyes off Christ and onto you. Be sure that in all you do, it is pleasing to God, and to please God. He’ll give you all the recognition you need.

Whatcha do that for?

Lord, thank You for gifting me to grow Your kingdom. I will not call attention to myself, but glorify You in all I do. Your word encourages me and I know You will lift me in Your time. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
— This is my prayer
