I recall shopping with my mom once as a child during the Christmas season. She warned me of how crowded the store would be, and to stick close to her so we would not become separated. She then told me, “We’re not here for you. We’re shopping for others.” I heard my mother’s words, but shortly after saw a toy that arrested my attention. After looking at the toy, I turned to my mother to say, “This is what I wan…” She was gone.
As I searched frantically for her through the large store, I could not see above the crowd. I couldn’t shout “MOM!” loud enough. I panicked. I began to cry in fear I’d be lost forever. It wasn’t until I stopped looking that a security guard saw me, comforted me, and told me not to be afraid, that he’d help me find my way. Shortly after, I was reunited with my mom.
When we are frantically going through setbacks and frustrations and cannot see above the crowds of life, there is someone we can depend on to reunite us with our Heavenly Father. His name is Jesus.
No matter what you have done and no matter what you are faced with, Jesus said He would never leave nor forsake you. He doesn’t want you to be afraid because of your circumstances or because of what someone has said about you. God says, “I am with you!”
