We all have emotional reflexes. It’s how we mentally, verbally, or physically react to what we’re experiencing. We believe these actions to be out of our control and sometimes refer to them as “natural reactions.” If we’re honest, the majority of these “natural reactions” aren’t necessarily pleasing to God. If someone curses toward us, we “naturally” want to curse them back. If someone treats us bad, we “naturally” want to make sure it’s the last time they do so.
I want to remind us that’s there is nothing natural about sin and we don’t have to do what our sinful nature urges us to do. Allow God to fight our battles. He can fight for us a lot better than we can. Doing so exercises our trust and faith in Him. So next time there is an opportunity to sin, remember, we don’t have to do it!

Heavenly Father, thank You for protecting me and fighting my battles. I know that I have no obligation to do what my sinful nature urges me to do, and I will remember how You want me to respond according to Your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
