God is Aware

Then the LORD told him, ‘I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering.’
— EXODUS 3:7 (NLT)

Juneteenth is officially a federal holiday in the United States celebrating the emancipation of African American slaves. Slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation, but over 250,000 black people were not made aware of their freedom until three years later in 1865. Just like our ancestors then, many of us don’t realize we are free today because of Christ and His love for us.

As you celebrate Juneteenth tomorrow, know that God is aware of and has delivered you from your suffering. He has seen your oppression, how you’ve been unjustly treated and abused. He’s aware of your cries of distress. And since He is aware, there are things you don’t have to take or settle for. You are free from hate. You are free from racism. You are free from oppression. Choose to only accept love. Choose to only accept peace. You were not made to suffer. You were made to triumph, win, and live an abundant life!

Heavenly Father, You have heard my cry and have set me free from my oppressor. I choose to only accept love, peace, prosperity, and happiness. Thank You for being aware of me and blessing me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
