May Take a While

This is what the Lord says: ‘You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again.’
— JEREMIAH 29:10 (NLT)

Whatever you’re asking God for today, in His will, it’s coming. It may take a while, but if God made you a promise, you can count on it. In today’s scripture, God told the people of Israel that they would be in Babylon for seventy years. That’s a long time to be waiting for God to deliver you! But God promised them that after their season that He would come for them and do for them all the good things He promised them and that He would bring them home again.

While the people of Israel waited for God’s promise to be fulfilled, He gave them assignments. Likewise, while you’re waiting on your promise, God has some work for you to do in preparation for His promise. He’s preparing you, maturing you, to be able to receive your promise. God hasn’t forgotten you. He’s heard every prayer. Your good thing is coming, in the name of Jesus! And when it comes, it will be right on time. God is never late, but He’s never early either.
