God Alone

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.
— JAMES 1:5 – 6 (NLT)

God will use someone to deliver His blessing to you. God will use someone to give you an encouraging word from Him. God will use something to turn your attention to Him. But God never wants you to put more faith in the person or thing He uses to bless you than the faith you have in Him. Make sure your faith is in who delivered you and not what delivered you.

The things God blesses us with make us feel good, enables us to do things and keeps us comfortable, but they are not God. When you have faith and know it was God, and God alone, that is sustaining you, that’s when He’s able to give generously to you. Your job didn’t cause you to prosper. God alone did. Your spouse didn’t bring you happiness. God alone did. Your promotion didn’t give you value. God alone did. Do not place your faith in the people or things that God has blessed you with. Instead, be sure that your faith is in God alone and watch Him line up everything else in your life just right.

Heavenly Father, my faith is in You and You alone. I thank You for the many blessings and for great people You surround me with, but I will continue to put my faith in only You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
