“The greatest among you must be a servant.”
When Jesus was teaching His disciples about the importance of serving, He told them, “…those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” To humble yourself in the presence of others takes knowing who you are. And once you know who you are, you will have no problem humbling yourself to serve others.

It’s a mindset to think of others before yourself. Jesus once said, “There is none great, but the Father,” but here He describes being a servant as “the greatest.” I suggest that when you seek to serve others, you come closer in your walk with God and His greatness rubs off on you. Serving others is an awesome opportunity to serve God. If you find yourself thinking of yourself before others, change your mindset and start walking in greatness.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the opportunity to serve others and grow closer in You. You have given me everything I need to do what You’ve called me to. Be with me, Lord, as I carry out Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
