Stay with the Boat

The rest were to get there on planks or on other pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land safely.
— ACTS 27:44 (NIV)

In this passage of scripture, we find Paul imprisoned by centurion soldiers being transported by boat to stand trial before Caesar. They experienced a very violent storm, but an angel told Paul to stay with the boat and not a single hair would be lost from their head. The soldiers wanted to jump ship to avoid the storm, but Paul continued to encourage them of God’s message. As they were delivered through the storm, the boat was destroyed and they had to swim to land using the broken pieces of the ship, but God kept His promise, and everyone reached land safely.

God is taking you somewhere, but you have to stay with the boat. He may use a storm to get you there or He may use your enemy to strengthen your faith, but never forget what God promised you. You may feel safe in your boat, but will you feel safe with just a piece of the boat? Everyone you know and everything you have may not be able to go where Jesus is taking you next. Your best friend may leave you, your company’s doors may close, your health could be compromised, but as long as you have Christ you’ll reach where He’s taking you safely. Don’t jump ship. Remember what God promised you in His word. Have faith. Stay with the boat.

It’s in His plan

Heavenly Father, I may not know the storms I will face, but I do know You, Lord. I know You will deliver me safely if I only have faith and just trust in Your word. Thank You, Father, for not allowing me to be consumed. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
