“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
God is love. That’s a powerful statement, but how often do we think about what it actually means? Sure, He shows us everyday how unmeasurable His love is for us, but He’s not just doing that to show off. No. God loves us the way He does so we can have an example of how to love. To love like God, we have to give as He did (John 3:16: For God so loved the world He gave…)and we have to forgive like He does (Isaiah 43:25: I, am He who blots out your transgressions…).

When you truly know God, you know love. God freely gives His love, mercy and grace to you daily – even when you may not deserve it - and you have the ability to reflect this unconditional love towards others. I know what you’re probably saying: “Van! It’s hard to love everyone like God does.” You’re right… when you’re trying to do it on your own strength. Follow the perfect example of Jesus. Love your enemies like He did. Give of yourself like He did. When you model yourself in the footsteps of Christ, you’ll be able to love like God.
