Someone in Need

It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor, but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.
— PROVERBS 14:21 (NIV)

What’s on your agenda for today? Probably have a lot going on. Even with the pandemic keeping us inside, we’re still able to stay busy. Since we can’t do the old routine we were so used to, our COVID-19 routine has taken over and totally absorbed all the time we thought we’d have on our hands while sheltered-in-place. But before we commit to our new norms, let’s be sure to remember to carve out time to think about someone in need.

Someone needs you. Not me, not the preacher, not the teacher. You. There’s someone out there, close by, that needs a word of encouragement from you. There’s someone out there who just needs a friend to listen to them without criticizing or passing judgment. There’s a single dad or single mom that needs a break today. Can’t think of anyone who fits those descriptions? Well, you never will until you reach outside of your new norm. Start with individuals in your household. Reach out to family and friends you haven’t spoken with in a while. Call that church member who lives alone. You know what? Just reach out to everyone you know until you find that someone in need. You’ll be happy you did!

Heavenly Father, thank You for answering my prayers. Now, Lord, increase me that I may bless someone in need. Guide my heart. Guide my mind. Thank You, God, for using me! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
