Yesterday

My problems go from bad to worse. Oh, save me from them all!
— PSALM 25:17 (NLT)

I was headed to work the other day and ran into a traffic jam on I-94. It’s always something on this freeway. I arrived to work later than I wanted. Yesterday, I was headed to work in the rain and noticed red blinking lights ahead on the same freeway. I immediately thought, “Not again!” as I kept going on the road, around the curve until the freeway straightened, I noticed the blinking red lights were on an off ramp and not in my way blocking my path. Then, I realized what God was trying to tell me.

Yesterday was yesterday. I shouldn’t carry the problems I had in my past into my present. I made myself see a problem because of what happened to me yesterday. I convinced myself of a trouble that wasn’t even mine. God’s mercies are renewed every morning for me and you. And as I continued on my path in these new mercies, I discovered God had a new plan for me today. I had to keep going around the curve and through the rain to find out. Today, I encourage you to keep going forward. You may have had problems yesterday, things may not have gone your way, but today is a new day and it is full of Christ’s blessings and favor. Don’t miss today’s blessing because of yesterday’s problem.

Keep going forward

Heavenly Father, I thank You for a brand new day free of yesterday’s problems. I choose not to focus on the past, but live in your blessings today and allow Your favor to overtake me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
