Ready to Help

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, asking for help.
— MATTHEW 8:5 (NIV)

Ever be so tired or consumed by your life that you feel like telling everybody, “Don’t ask me for nothing!” I’ve actually endured such busy weekends that when I showed up for work Monday I’ve told my co-workers, “I didn’t come here to work today!” Unfortunately, no matter how exhausted you may be, there’s still work for us to do. And when Jesus calls on us for help, it’s best to be ready.

As a gifted believer, you don’t have a clock you can punch in or out. You don’t have the luxury of vacation days or sick days where you can just take off. There’s someone out there, right now, depending on the gift that God has placed inside of you. There’s a locked door that only you can help someone gain access to. No matter what you’re experiencing in life, be ready to help others. God has placed a precious gift within you and Christ has given you the strength to use it – even in those times when you may not feel like it. The next time someone comes to you for help, don’t look at it as a burden, but see it as privilege knowing that God thought of you and trusted you enough to send His child to you for help.
