Spiritual Dump Day

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
— JAMES 1:21 (NIV)

In my city, we have what’s known as dump day. That’s a day where you can remove items, large and small, from your house, place it on the curb near the street, and the trash man will remove it for free. Good deal, right? The problem is making the effort of getting the clutter and trash out of your house and to the curb. It’s a free service, but people rarely use it because it’s easier to just adjust to the clutter that surrounds you.

Our body’s are God’s temple and the Holy Spirit lives within us. As believers, we should take advantage of our spiritual dump day routinely by doing a regular self-inventory to get rid of all moral filth and evil for Jesus to come by and take it from His temple.  With less ungodly clutter in our spirits, we can allot more room for the Word Jesus planted in us to grow. Just as a cluttered, trashy home drives down the value of the property, hoarding moral filth and evil will drive down your spiritual growth. Don’t get used to the clutter! Utilize your spiritual dump day today and clean the hell out of your house!
