The Small Things

I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.
— PSALM 3:5 (NIV)

Friends! Thank you so much for your responses to Thursday’s devotional, “Tell What God’s Done.” I was truly blessed and encouraged. So much so, that I want to share a few responses over the next couple of days in hope that these testimonies inspire and encourage you as well…

My Father woke me up this morning, in my right mind.  He provided me clothes to wear, food to eat, and my Daddy even provided me a car to get to work in!  Last year, my car died, and I had not one nickel to purchase another one but, my Daddy said, Yes you do!!! What a might God I serve!!

Sometimes we forget about the small blessings from God when we focus on the bigger ones. We see big ones as God blessing us with a car, house, or new job, but forget the blessings of simply waking up this morning or having the ability to choose what your family will eat tonight, while others may not know where their next meal is coming from. When you start thanking Jesus for the simple things in life, you realize there’s no such thing as a small blessing from God. They’re ALL big blessings!  So, when you wake up, “Thank You, Jesus!” When you run water to brush your teeth, “Thank You, Lord!” When you walk, get dressed, your car starts, the sky is blue, the grass is green, you’re still alive, “Thank You, God!” Take time to tell God you appreciate the small things in life and the big ones will show up.

I just want to thank…

Heavenly Father, I thank you for waking me up this morning and sustaining me all through the night. I will bless Your name and thank You for everything You’ve done for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
