The Sacrifice

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
— HEBREWS 12:22 (NKJV)

The phrase “Short term sacrifice for long term gain” has always inspired me. In life, we sometimes are going to have to do and go through some things we’d rather not in order to achieve success or reach a goal. To lose weight, you may have to stop eating out as much. To save money… you may have to stop eating out as much. (LOL) While these things may not be comfortable, or even easy, the outcome that lies ahead is very much worth it.

Jesus endured the pain and shame that came along with being crucified. He was able to do so because of His faith in God, awareness of His purpose, and He saw you and I. The sacrifice Jesus is asking you to make in life today isn’t about you. It’s about exposing others to the gift God has placed inside you that will draw them closer to Christ. If you get discouraged in your well doing, think about the lives that are or will be affected because you allow God to use you.  The sacrifice is worth the gain.

Heavenly Father, thank You for enduring the shame of being crucified and seeing me beyond the cross. Thank You, Lord for Your sacrifice that I might live with You forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
