You Gotta Do Something

His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever He tells you.’
— JOHN 2:5 (NIV)

Jesus and His disciples were invited to a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Mary, the mother of Jesus, was there also and brought an issue before Jesus. She told him they ran out of wine and had no more. Then she turned her attention to the servants and told them, “Do whatever He tells you.” Jesus told them to fill the ceremonial washing jars with water and bring them to Him. He then performed the miracle of turning water into wine.

As Jesus performed numerous miracles throughout scripture, there is one thing I found to be consistent. Before Jesus performed a miracle, He always asked the recipient to do something or give something first. Was this request to show their faith? Was it Christ proving faith without works is dead? I’m not quite sure, but I do know in order to receive a miracle, you gotta do something! What is Jesus asking you to do before He presents a miracle in your life? There is something He wants to reveal to you and in you, but you first have to show you have faith in Him and believe He will do it for you. Jesus wants you to take all your issues to Him, but after you pray, be prepared to do something.
