Divine Power

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
— 2 CORINTHIANS 10:4 (NIV)

It’s human for us to think we can handle situations ourselves or with the help of family or close friends. When I struggle with a problem, I normally turn to my wife first, next my family, then close friends. (And it depends on what I’m dealing with at the time.) It’s not until after I talk with another godly person that they remind me I’m not dealing with a person or thing, but a spirit I have to use God’s divine power to demolish the enemies stronghold.

It’s convenient, and a trick of the enemy, to believe the problem you’re facing is that person right in front of you or that overdue payment in your mailbox. It’s easy to rely on quick fixes of marijuana or alcohol instead of dealing directly with your depression or self-esteem. Your weapon against your enemy are not weapons of the world. Your weapon is God’s given divine power to demolish strongholds. Speak to those demonic and wicked spirits that are coming against you and command them to leave in the name of Jesus. You have been set free and are no longer captive to them.  Counseling and a good self-help book are great starts with taking back your life, but don’t forget prayer and the divine power you have to speak over your life.

Heavenly Father, I receive the divine power You’ve given me to demolish strongholds in my life. I will no longer use weapons of the world, but Your Word that strengthens me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
