“I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
I was watching America’s Got Talent one night. This particular episode featured a tightrope act. The performer was several feet above the ground, with the audience cheering and gasping with each step he made. He even used props to make his act more difficult. But you know what I noticed? I noticed no matter how high he was, no matter how distracting the crowd was beneath him, or how much each prop nearly caused him to lose balance; he always looked straight ahead to the other side and never looked down.
As you walk your tightrope in life, several obstacles may try to distract you from reaching your other side. It may be the pile of bills on your dining room table. It may be an old friend you grew up with who encourages you to live in your past instead of building towards your future. Maybe it’s your health that seems to keep failing, a dead end relationship you can’t let go of, or a fear of failing. Whatever your obstacle is today, don’t let it shake you! Keep your eyes focused on God and the plan He has for your life. God wants to lift you high above your obstacles, beyond those who try to distract you, and over every situations you’re facing. With God at your side, and your eyes always on Him, your other side is only a few more steps away.
