“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Ever notice that the bad guy in the movies is always made to look the coolest? From Darth Vadar to Kylo Ren, from the Joker to Loki, they always have the best gadgets and the most memorable lines. Even in real life, bad news is often over-glorified. The network news leads you to believe there’s no good happening in the world, and the Internet features endless viral videos of violence and destruction. As believers, we cannot let this trick of Satan take over our minds or way of living. We are not to be overcome by evil, but rather overcome evil with good. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Jesus has called us to be the light of the world. The love He has showed us can overcome the hate this world has come to know. Where evil prevails, know that you have the power to overcome it through Christ who strengthens you.
