Like Attracts Like

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
— COLOSSIANS 3:2 (NIV)

The law of attraction is the name given to the maxim "like attracts like" which in New Thought philosophy is used to sum up the idea that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts a person brings positive or negative experiences into their life. In other words, if you think bad things will happen to you, you increase your chances of bad things actually happening. On the contrary, If you think positive and foster an optimistic mindset, you’ll increase opportunities for good things to happen in your life.

I’ve got good news! Jesus wants good for you and if you’re like me, you could use a little (or a lot of) good today. One catalyst in starting this chain reaction of good bombarding your life is thinking about what you’re thinking about. Scripture says to set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. Whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -think about these things and witness your mind change what’s attracted to you. Don’t waste the power of your mind by introducing it to stinking thinking.

Heavenly Father, I will set my mind on things above, not on earthly things. I will focus on things that are of You and not the negative that can surround me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
