Working Together

From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
— EPHESIANS 4:16 (NIV)

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse I was recently diagnosed with hordeolum externum of the right eye. (That’s fancy doctor talk for an eye infection.) It started with a slight pain that eventually led to my eye being almost swollen shut with extreme pain. The emergency room physician prescribed an ointment and some antibiotics. While the ointment is applied directly into my eye, the antibiotics are taken orally. The capsules are broken down in my stomach which causes it to become upset and leaves me nauseous.  But in order for the antibiotics to be dispersed, and begin the healing process of my eye, the rest of my body has to help.

God’s plan for the body of Christ is very similar. When a believer is experiencing pain or going through a rough patch in life, God will not only touch that believer directly, but also use another believer to deliver His blessings of love, hope, and compassion. When your brother is going through, help him get through. When your sister is experiencing a storm, show her God’s rainbow. God designed us to work together and support one another. Allow God to use you today to deliver His blessing.

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating the whole body to be joined and held together by every supporting believer. I will help the body grow and build it up in love as I do Your work. Bless me to be a blessing. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
