No Take-backs

…for God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.
— Romans 11:29 (NIV)

As children, the games we played had a lot of rules that could change the outcome of the game. If you were playing tag and were on base, you were safe from being “it.” If you had trouble picking teams, everyone placed one tip of their shoe in a circle while a team captain chanted, “Bubble gum, bubble gum, in a dish. How many pieces do you wish?” And if you wanted to secure your possessions from ever being up for grabs, all you had to do was utter the words, “No take-backs,” and no one was able to take the item from you under any circumstances.

God created the concept of no take-backs when He called you and gave you spiritual gifts to aid in your calling. Your current state doesn’t matter, nor does what you’ve done in your past. It doesn’t matter who says you can’t or tries to stop what God called you to be. God’s gifts and call to His people are irrevocable. If you fall short while achieving your calling, ask God for His forgiveness. His mercy can overtake your disobedience and get you back on track. Move forward in your purpose knowing God wants you to succeed and is with you.

The world didn’t give it

Lord, thank You for the gifts You’ve placed in me and the calling You’ve committed to my life. I know these gifts and calling are for me and cannot be taking away from me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
