The Most Wonderful Time

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
— Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

For many people, this is a widely celebrated time of the year. There’s the hustle of shopping and the bustle of preparing for guests. There’s the friendly Christmas decoration competition. The optimistic endeavor of emptying your inbox before turning on your out of office notification. But for believers, this is the most wondeful time of the year for another reason. This is the time of year where we celebrate the gift of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

It would be foolish for us not to celebrate with family and friends in the traditions this time of year offers, but be careful not to omit why the celebration is significant – the birth of God’s only Son. What God gave us cannot fit under a tree, nor stay affixed to one. He gave us a Wonderful Counselor who can solve questions that seem to have no answer. A Mighty God who shows Himself strong through us. An Everlasting Father who will not leave us nor forsake us. A Prince of Peace who can comfort us through any storm. All this and more are the true reasons to celebrate. For unto us a child is born…

Thank You

God, thank You for giving this world Your Son. In Jesus I have a Wonderful Counselor, a Mighty God, an Everlasting Father, and a Prince of Peace. Bless Your mighty name for you are worthy of all praise. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
