Stop Looking

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
— John 14:27 (NIV)

During this time of year, gifts will be exchanged between family and friends. What’s the first thing you do when someone gives you a gift?

Say “Thank you?” No.

Give them a gift in return? Nope. Even before that.

Brag about how your gift cost more? Of course not.

The first thing you do is when someone gives you a gift is… accept it! That’s what Christ wants you to do with His peace. You can stop looking for peace in your job, through people, in money, or in things that can’t love you back. Jesus gave you His peace. No strings attached. He only wants you to accept it and Him into your life. His gifts aren’t like those from some people in the world who give you things only to remind you later about what they did for you. No. Jesus left His peace with you because He loves you and does not want you to be afraid or your heart to be troubled. So, if peace is on your list of things to find, cross it off, and stop looking.

Peace of mind

Lord, thank You for giving me Your peace. I accept Your gift and will not allow my heart to be troubled. With Your peace, I do not have to live in fear. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
