I'm Not Going Back

But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?
— Galatians 4:9 (NIV)

When I was younger, I knew God, but I didn’t “know” God. God mercifully delivered me from so much in my life and still does today, because face it, I still don’t have it all together. He saved me from things that could have killed me and things I didn’t even realize would kill me. And although I still struggle today I realize those things blocked my view of God, I don’t want to be enslaved by them again.

I’m sure if you look back over your life, you too can pinpoint times when God delivered you. It could be from alcohol, drug or sex addiction, overeating, lying, or procrastinating. It could have been over 10 years ago, or today. The important thing is to realize God is able to strengthen you and keep you from turning back to those things that blocked your view of Him. I’m sure you agree the feeling of freedom in Christ is greater than the enslavement of guilt.

I’m moving ahead

Heavenly Father, thank You for delivering me from my sin. I know in You I will find the strength to move forward and not return to those weak and miserable forces. I do not want to be enslaved to that sin again, but experience Your freedom and forgiveness. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
— This is my prayer
