All the Same

Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law.
— JAMES 2:8 – 9 (NLT)

Jesus does not show favoritism. He loves everyone just the same. He forgives everyone just the same. He thinks of everyone just the same. Christ wants us to follow in His footsteps. This effort of love aligns with His command to love your neighbor as yourself, but Jesus wants us to love the neighbor to our right, the neighbor to our left, front, and back all the same!

It sounds impossible, right? How do you love everyone the same? How do you not favor some people over others? It’s only impossible if you do not include the power of Christ. With God, all things are possible, and if you’re doing the work of the Lord, you’re going to need the help of the Lord. Pray for the ability to not show favor over another, but love everyone all the same. It’s an act of obedience. It’s an act of discipleship. It’s an act of love.

We’re all His favorites

Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching me how to love and for giving me the ability to not show favorites. I will treat all the same just as You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
